Grey Matters is looking for speakers to be part of our monthly(ish) lecture & conversation series on Thursday evenings at Stagewerx Theatre in San Francisco's Mission District! We welcome researchers from across the sciences and humanities. Our talks are intended for a smart general audience, and we coach our speakers to share their research question in tandem with their personal stories. You will be welcomed by a warmed-up, excited audience and your talk will be followed by a hosted Q&A. Talks may be recorded and rebroadcast. We provide free coaching to help you craft your research story with a personal touch. Apply now to be a speaker, or get in touch if you are interested in storytelling coaching or upcoming small-group workshops.
I loved participating in Grey Matters!!! It was a pleasure to prepare my talk in collaboration with Ana. We worked closely together from the conceptualization phase to fine tuning on the day of performance. Ana taught me strategies and approaches to storytelling that shifted my orientation to the narrative arch. She approached each meeting with interest and engagement. Together, we developed a final product that resonated with the audience and left the group enraptured. As a social scientist, I write and present material quite frequently, but sharing my personal orientation to the research is new for me. Ana encouraged me to be vulnerable and acted as an ally throughout the process. Big thank you to Ana and Grey Matters for a truly gratifying experience.
